He asked to identify the key national benefits in protecting the national sovereignty, ensuring security, enhancing the socio-economic development and upholding the status of the nation in the world.
Secondly, Viet Nam needs to join and makes more contribution to establishing the institutional development of international institutions such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, ASEAN, ASEM and APEC.
Especially, the nation should play a key role in establishing the ASEAN institution, heading to a united and harmonious community.
He required that in the context, Viet Nam’s trade representatives at foreign nations and multi-lateral organizations must exchange information and strengthen consultancy.
Thirdly, diplomatic activities need active support from other ministries, agencies, localities and businesses, he said, asking for breakthrough measures to attract investment and intellectuals from overseas Vietnamese to serve the national development.
Fourthly, the PM referred to the close coordination between diplomatic tasks and management, proposing effective cooperation between agencies and setting up a professional and qualified staff.
He suggested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade assign tasks for each Ambassador and commercial counselor to guarantee the status of the national diplomacy in key areas.
Fifthly, overseas Vietnamese representative agencies, diplomats and trade counselors have to maximize the nation’s benefits overseas.
The PM expected that diplomats will successfully fulfill their tasks, making contribution to the fast and sustainable development of the nation in the new period.
